Hi Everyone,

Giddy up! It's that time of year again - Melbourne Cup day.

Welcome to the November issue of our newsletter.

At its meeting today, the Reserve Bank of Australia decided to leave the cash rate unchanged again at 1.5%.

In this issue see what 10 things you should know of the true cost of buying a home, we show you 3 things you can do right now to prepare for an interest rate rise and see why the property industry is running scared on negative gearing. In addition, find out who had it easier when buying in 1990 v's 2018 and read about the tax traps that have been flagged in the First Home Super Saver Scheme.

Owners of certain buildings with external combustible cladding will be required to register their building with the NSW Government. For buildings occupied before 22 October 2018, the deadline for registration is 22 February 2019. For later buildings the owners will be required to register their building within four months of the building first being occupied. See further information by reading this Fact Sheet.

We hope you walked away with a win at the Melbourne Cup!

Kind regards,

Donna Westwood
